Introduction to “Ready to Rocket” List

The “Ready to Rocket” list is a list of BC’s most promising and high growth companies in the CleanTech space. The companies awarded with this honour have been selected by industry experts, investors, and peers in the BC CleanTech Community.

The Rocket Builders “Ready to Rocket” list is a favorite event amongst the Vancouver start-up and entrepreneurial community. Last month (January 25th) the Rocket Builders announced their 2011 High-Tech Ready to Rocket List, today they have released the CleanTech list. This is an exciting event for the BC CleanTech and GreenTech industry as Rocket Builders has developed an accurate system around identifying emerging private companies in British Columbia with the greatest potential for sustained revenue growth. The list has been predicting growth leaders and attracting investment since its inception in 2003.

Criteria for the 2011 CleanTech / GreenTech Ready to Rocket List

A “Ready to Rocket” company has an established customer base, regular revenue, and is substantially increasing their employee headcount.

The clean technology, or “CleanTech,” list includes renewable energy production companies (wind power, solar power, biomass, hydropower, biofuels), green transportation, electric motors, green chemistry, efficient lighting, environmental protection (air, water, soil) and any innovation that improves energy efficiency.

In order to be nominated, a company must be commercializing and selling their product, not simply in the proof of concept stage. The company and product must demonstrate customer validation, a scalable demonstration project, and established industry relationships.

According to the Ready to Rocket website, the selection committee looks for companies with the potential for 50% to 100% growth in the coming year.

The minimum criteria to qualify is that the company has a completed product offering and initial customers. From there the criteria looks for companies with a very clear and proven business model and a solid go-to-market strategy that will be attractive to early stage investors.
