REV Pumps Up the Executive Team and Pleases Customers

REV Electric SmartGridThe First quarter of 2011 was a big one for GreenAngel Investee Rapid Electric Vehicles. REV added two key members to their team, including a board member and further proved their portable power and micro-grid technology.

REV continues to be one of GreenAngel’s more outgoing and publicity-centered investees. If you recall, Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson drove a REV vehicle from city hall to the “Ready to Rocket” event in February of this year.

Headshot of John Wallace - REV BoardIn a fantastic move to add even more industry experience to the board of directors, REV has announced the appointment of John Wallace, 20 year automotive veteran. John was the past CEO for Xantrex Technology, Inc. based in Burnaby, B.C. Canada. Prior to his tenure at Xantrex, Wallace worked independently as a consultant in the alternative energy sector and served in various capacities at Ford Motor Company for nearly 20 years.

Headshot of Richard Woodruff, REV VP SalesREV made another major change to the management by hiring Richard Woodruff, experienced technology sales executive. The addition of Richard as REV’s VP of sales and marketing represents a significant step for the company. With a background that includes both engineering and management, Woodruff brings more than 20 years of experience building partner alliances and selling complex technology in a variety of emerging sectors.

The move to bring on Richard indicates that REV is committed to commercializing their fully-electric SUVs and trucks for fleet operators such as the US Military and the City of Burlington. In addition to its proprietary technology that turns the vehicles into mobile power generators for powering on-site equipment, these vehicles demonstrate the capability to exchange electricity with utility power grids.

With that comes further news from Hawaii and TARDEC’s (US Military’s Tank and Automotive Research Centre) use of the REV vehicles to add electric fleet vehicles and portable power storage to their facility. The reports are positive, and the team at the Wheeler Airforce base is thrilled with the technology. REV has supplied four fully-electric vehicles that are capable of bi-directional power transfer. Used in conjunction with a solar array and a smart grid, the cars will be able to provide backup power to 4 buildings including the garrison headquarters for up to 72 hours. Read more about this in the Hawaii Army Weekly Paper.

REV Anounces Public FInancingFinally, as if on cue to the question of “what next?” for the company, REV has announced that they will begin another round of funding for 2011. The intention is to raise between $500,000 and $1,000,000 by the end of April 2011. They are using a venture capital corporation (VCC) which you can learn more about on GreenAngel’s REV VCC page.
